The True Benefits Of Regular Chiropractic Care- By Mark Symonds

1. Continue Your Progress:

In order to insure a lasting recovery, continued chiropractic care is essential.  Even after your pain and other symptoms have gone, the soft tissues supporting your spine such as muscles and ligaments continue to heal. Therefore even though you may be feeling a great deal better, being pain and symptom free does not indicate an achievement of complete healing. Chiropractic care promotes and accelerates your body’s natural healing process with manual techniques that are drug free. Good nutrition, exercise and postural advice may also be necessary to stay well.  By continuing with your chiropractic care, you will encourage a more complete healing process.

2. Prevent A Relapse:

Without continued chiropractic care, your soft tissues, muscles and connective tissue will be inclined to take up some unwanted and unhealthy patterns.  Your body needs continual rehabilitative care in order to retrain and increase the strength of your spine or else a relapse may occur.

3. Avoid Future Problems:

You spine has stresses placed upon it everyday, even in activities and situations such as financial worries, toxic environments, and long periods of sitting and standing.  Interference to the nervous system is caused by even the slightest bit of trauma and consequently compromises your health.  Continued chiropractic care will help you stay healthy and also minimise problems so that they do not become complicated and large problems.

4. Save Money:

A healthy chiropractic lifestyle enables you to save time and money, as well as maintaining optimum health.  By continuing with regular chiropractic adjustments and check-ups, you can avoid the expenses of having to correct preventable problems as well as reducing the amount of money you spend of pills and doctors/ surgeons bills.

5. Feel Good:

Continued chiropractic adjustments will enable you to enjoy life in a pain free environment.  A series of preventable care visits will be recommended by your chiropractor in order to keep you feeling your best.  With regular and continued chiropractic care you can expect to have an immense increase in energy and also feel a great improvement in your health and wellbeing.

6. Continue to Learn:

Your chiropractor will not only improve your health but they will increase your knowledge about how to stay healthy.  As proper spinal maintenance is new for most individuals, you are encouraged to ask questions and get involved in your chiropractic care.  You will learn how to be an active partner in the recovery of your health as well as learning about the role of your spine and nervous system.  You will be able to look and rely on your chiropractor for a continuing source of information, which will help keep both you and your family healthy.

Go For It!

Through chiropractic care you will be able to experience natural relief for pain and symptoms of many health issues. At Neurohealth we aim to provide ‘state of the art’ techniques and services focused at providing optimal health.

We can combine a wide range of treatment techniques to assist people’s health on a physical, chemical and emotional level. Your current level of health is determined by the combined accumulation of stress in each of these areas above; the characteristics you have inherited and have been exposed to throughout your lifetime. We will aim to create the right conditions within the body for lasting changes and prevent recurrences.

The body is a magnificent tool that needs to be cared for and looked after in order to give you the best results!

If you have any questions- speak with one of our chiropractors during your next appointment- we are always happy to provide you with information to ensure you receive the best benefits from your care with us!

National Healthy Bones Week : 1st- 7th August

As a Chiropractor, I was glad to see that there is a national initiative to draw awareness to the importance of Healthy Bones. With more and more Australian’s being diagnosed with osteoporosis and osteoarthritis i strongly welcome “National Healthy Bones Week”, However………

As I always do, i proceeded to look at the facts that were being promoted and was most alarmed to see that “National Healthy Bones Week” major sponsor by “Dairy Australia” and suprise, suprise- guess what their number 1 solution is to prevent osteoporosis?…..That’s right- Dairy!

Now while this may not come as a suprise to you, after all- we are all taught from an early age that “we need to consume “at least 3 serves of dairy everyday to build healthy bones and prevent osteoporosis”. However- I would like to fill you in on some fantastic information I learnt while receiving my International Wellness Practitioner Certification…

Minimise Your Dairy Consumption!!

WHY? Firstly diary is high in protein and low in phosphorus so it increases urinary excretion of calcium. Secondly, diary also increases acidity in the body which is buffered (balanced) by the body by taking calcium out of the bones! So although calcium is important for bone health you with get better absorption by eating lots of green leafy vegetables and seeds. It is also interesting to note that many studies have shown that the elderly can actually increase their bone density purely by exercising WITHOUT any calcium supplementation.

What Is Osteoporosis?

“Osteoporosis is a condition where the bones have lost calcium and other minerals, become fragile and tend to fracture more easily. In Australia, osteoporosis affects one in two females and one in three males over the age of 60.

During childhood and the teen years, particularly just before puberty, the body is very efficient at storing calcium and building strong bones. By our early twenties, peak bone mass (maximum bone density) is achieved – this is when our bones are at their strongest. Building a higher peak bone mass early in life helps prevent osteoporosis later in life. It is essential to eat enough calcium-rich foods and do regular physical activity (high impact or weight bearing) during the first twenty years of life to help achieve a healthy maximum bone density.

Tips To Help Prevent Osteoporosis

To help prevent osteoporosis, physical activity is most important, especially weight bearing exercise and resistance (weight) training exercise. Doing 30 to 40 minutes of activity (like walking, jogging, tennis, golf, dancing and lawn bowls) four to six times a week will help build and maintain strong bones, and help you stay fit and healthy. There are some risk factors for osteoporosis we cannot alter, such as age, gender and genetics, but some things we can do to help protect ourselves against it include:

1. Consume plenty of calcium-rich foods, such as green leafy vegetables and limited dairy throughout life.

2.Minimise inflammatory or acidic foods particularly breads, pastas, biscuits, processed foods etc (ask us for our anti-inflammatory dietary recommendations!)

3. Regular safe sun exposure for adequate vitamin D

4. Moderate your alcohol intake

5. Moderate salt intake

6. Avoid smoking

7. If you are a woman, seek medical advice about your risk of osteoporosis and consider having your bone density measured before menopause.” (information from www.healthybonesweek.com.au”
