Whether its yoga or a dance class, our favourite past time can put high demands on our flexibility. Other lifestyle factors such as long days spent sitting at a desk in front of a computer, or long commutes in the car or bus, stress, and irregular stretching and exercise can all contribute to limiting your flexibility and hence, limiting what you can get out of class.

When we are pushing our bodies to the limits we want to see the results of our efforts! Flexibility is determined by a good balance in our musculoskeletal system. We need limber muscles with good blood flow, and to obtain that we need the bones and joints our muscles anchor to, to be in alignment. Our spine and pelvis are where all our global muscles groups attach to, and proper spinal motion contributes to the flexibility of your torso, core, arms and legs. A misalignment in your spinal joints causes unequal tension in your muscle groups, restricting blood flow and movement, and can predispose us to injury.

Ever felt like you can stretch easier to one side than the other? Ever had a pull, pinch or ongoing pain while pushing your body in a class? These are all signs your spine needs realignment! Chiropractic specialises in encouraging movement and flexibility in every muscle and joint of the body.

Regular movement and exercise is one of the very best things we can do for our health! To push through pain and end up with an injury could undo weeks or months of hard work as you spend time recovering. Don’t let your good work be held back, make sure you keep everything in balance!
