Adults and Retained Primitive Reflexes

It’s important to know that Retained Primitive Reflexes are not just present in children. The nervous system is very resourceful and although it may not be functioning at its best, it will still function and therefore these reflexes can be present well into adulthood. By this stage however, they generally manifest themselves as symptoms that may include but are not limited to -

  • Low energy
  • Anxiety
  • Mood swings
  • Foggy thinking
  • Inability to focus.
  • Adult reading and comprehension difficulties

They can be corrected just as easily in adults as they can in children, and often this is a necessary step to helping the child with Retained Primitive Reflexes.

 Family Retained Primitive Reflexes

The Parent and Child bond is more than just sentimental – it is physiological. They are a close unit through all the early stages of nervous system development, and if Mum or Dad still has their Retained Primitive Reflexes, the child’s behaviour will continue to mimic the symptoms related to these reflexes even after we have switched them off. Children are very sensitive to our behaviours, sometimes even more sensitive than we are. This is why if you suspect your child may have these issues, it is always worth getting yourself checked as well so we can deliver the best results.
